40 Years of Work in The Social Field at Chekka. We are Proud To be Part of Our Hometown's History

Dear friends,

We are turning 40 and we are proud to continue the tradition. Forty years to the day since the first troop started in Chekka. More than 40 years of scouting and Group St Maron members are still active and a vibrant member in our community. During all these years we set the example for others, and we were the admiration and envy of the youth as well as youth organizations in the area.

Friends, the same way the Scout’s campfires burn strong every night, for many of us, being Scout has been so strong and the basis for everything we’ve done. In the years to come, we will tell our children and grandchildren we are members of this Group; that we are part of its history. A history which is remembered by people not only in Chekka or Lebanon but around the world. However, our tradition doesn’t stop there-in the past, it continues to evolve-to be relevant to today’s youth and to the community we serve. Today we are preparing the leaders of the future. Today we are celebrating the adventure and continuing the journey. Someone wrote “One of my rules in life is to never forget where you came from or the people who helped you along the way. Life is a team sport and without a whole lot of people around you coaching, mentoring, motivating you; your great accomplishment would not have been possible”. Personally, I know it would not have been possible for me without being a Boy Scout.

With that said, it is good to pay tribute to the many distinguished leaders of our group. Those who are still between us, active and supportive as always and those who took the road. At the end of the day, the group takes on the personality of its leaders; those great leaders whom we will look back on when we are old and know we could not have had a better experience than having them as our leaders. I’d like to take the opportunity to recognize all our leaders who commit so much of their personal time and effort to the success of our group.
